Fashion Flashback: Wide Leg Jeans

I wish the wide leg fit was currently in style. If it was, I would hope J. Brand would bring back these Joplin Palazzo jeans Katie Holmes is wearing, because it is too cute! I'm fairly certain that Katie Holmes and Sarah Michelle Gellar are wearing the same style jeans.

The jeans Katie Holmes is wearing have already been identified as J. Brand Joplin Palazzo jeans, but SMG's haven't been spotted yet. It's hard to tell if it is the same style and brand, since jeans are so hard to identify, but they both wore it around the same year, 2007, when the jeans were being sold in stores. So there is a good chance they are both wearing J. Brand Joplin Palazzo jeans.

But it doesn't really matter if it is the same pair or not, since J. Brand no longer sells it. I really like this look of casual chic with the wide leg jeans. It's a way to dress down, but still look stylish. I wish J. Brand still sold these jeans. I'm getting so tired of the same old skinny jeans in department stores.

One thing is certain, once wide leg jeans become the trend, once again, I will be the first one to jump on the band wagon!

Buffy - Nanette Lepore Sheer Panel Silk Blouse

As the seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer progress, Buffy's choices in fashion continue to mature with her. By season 7, the short skirts and knee high boots are replaced with lace trimmed blouses and straight leg slacks.
In  S07E06, Sarah Michelle Gellar wears an oh so cute top by Nanette Lepore. The silk blouse features capped sleeves and sheer panel at the neckline.

These adorable tops originally were sold in an off white and black. I personally probably would have gone with the black top, but the off white is cute too.

Makeup Counter: They're Action Figures, Not Dolls

I have now thoroughly invaded my vanity table with geek culture. Mission accomplished. Managed to stumble across a few old figurines from Star Wars so I added those too. Didn't seem quite complete without Han Solo and Princess Leia. Of course, I have my vast assortment of the ever amazing Wonder Woman.

Buffy Season 2: Betsey Johnson Blouse

In season 2 episode 14 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar wears a knit top by Betsey Johnson.

Because of the filters used during filming, it's hard to tell if the top is brown or black. I'm not even sure if it comes in brown, but I do know it was sold in a pinkish purple and black.

Package in the Mail

Omg! Look what arrived in the mail from Malaysia! It's my custom made organizer that I ordered through Etsy. I love it! This particular organizer was made by NotbookNotbuk.

I had ordered my blue 2015 organizer from Mod86Designery. I totally lucked out. Both sellers did an amazing job that produced professional looking results.

The best part is I can use the black and white one any year I want, because it has blank calendar pages for filling in the date.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Setting the Trends

During its seven years on the air, Buffy the Vampire Slayer managed to set many a trends in the media and in the public. And can you blame us? With the stylistic eye of head costume designer, Cynthia Bergstrom, the cast was dressed in the best designer apparel.

I have no defining proof, but I'm pretty sure Btvs sparked the leather fad during the late 90's. Even Ross Gellar of Friends purchased a pair of leather pants in Season 5 Episode 11 of Friends.

I myself owned three pairs of faux leather pants, in the late 90's: a pair in brown, burgundy and black. But that could have also have been because I was (and still am) a die hard Buffy fan so naturally I looked to her for a few style cues. How many pairs of leather pants did you own?

Let's face it. Btvs has a lot of awesome style and quality brands to boot. One example is in the episode "Life Serial" where Buffy can be seen wearing a blouse by the now infamous designer Jane Mayle.

The adorable, silk top is from the Mayle Spring 2002 collection and features a center cutout of a female silhouette similar to the logo usded on the designer labels. The top comes in black and navy, but I believe Buffy wears it in Navy.

Unfortunately, the Mayle clothing line closed up shop in 2008 and Jane Mayle now mainly does handbags. This top most certainly would have been an excellent piece to bring back into circulation.

I've seen a couple of these tops on ebay, but it isn't cheap. The Mayle clothing line also tends to run small and it is near to impossible to find sizes that range above a 6. A sad bit of truth for both fans of Mayle and Buffy.

Video: Sarah Michelle Gellar's SNL Appearances

Sarah Michelle Gellar has hosted Saturday Night Live on three different occasions. Since it was so long ago, I thought it would be fun to share the links to two of her episodes.

Anna Paquin & Sarah Michelle Gellar on Twitter

For those who haven't already, I suggest adding these two amazingly talented and beautiful actresses to your twitter feed.

Buffy: Life Serial Bustier & Cardi

Buffy looks like quite the authentic college student with her studious looking cardigan in the season 6 episode "Life Serial". I wonder what the "8" stands for. Inquiring minds want to know.

It isn't till Buffy is knocked to the ground that she removes the cardi and reveals the adorable, lace bustier underneath.

I'm not exactly sure who this top is made by. It certainly looks designer. My best guess would probably have to be Nanette Lepore. It is similar to tops they have made, and I know the wardrobe department has utilized the brand in the past.

I always like seeing Buffy's school attire. It switches her wardrobe up from her slayer clothing which mainly consists of sweaters and knee length trench coats.

Sarah Michelle Gellar: BCBG Maxazria

Sarah Michelle Gellar looking amazing in a BCBG MAXAZRIA Spring 2004 RTW Silk Halter Dress she wore on May 16, 2004.

Maxazria made a good choice when they added a slip prior to selling the dress for public wear. Visible panties and nips only work on the runway.

Betsey Johnson & Sarah Michelle Gellar

Anna Paquin: Alexander Mcqueen

True Blood: Pam's Marc by Marc Jacobs Cardigan

In S03E01 and S03E02 of True Blood, Pam shows off her girly side with an adorable pink cardigan by Marc by Marc Jacobs.

I really like this sweater. Who doesn't love a good cardigan? This particular sweater is no longer in stores, but it is always popping up on auction sites like Ebay.

Maybe it's Maybelline!

So True!

Sarah Michelle Gellar: Mayle Sundress

Anna Paquin & Sarah Michelle Gellar Looking Lovely in Chanel

My two favorite actresses together at a Chanel dinner event (April 2007). Anna Paquin is wearing a Chanel Spring 2007 RTW Fringed Tweed Suit Dress. Love it!

Put Down the Slim Fast & Step Away!

What I find most shocking, about this image, is the fact that there are people who still drink Slim Fast. :O But I must say, that dress & boot combo is really cute. (LA 2008)

Buyer Beware: Designer Knockoffs

Photograph by Jamie Johnson on display at the Cooper Design Space.

Nothing worse, in the fashion community, than designer knockoffs. I don’t understand why anyone would knowingly buy a knockoff. The quality is complete shit and is bound to fall apart at the seems in a matter of weeks if not days.

I especially despise it when sellers try to pass of fakes as legit designer pieces. Auction sites are littered with a shit ton of designer fakes. It makes the designer look bad when a cheaply made garment is adorned with their designer label, and it isn’t fair to the buyer. Grrrrr Argh!

SMG: Twenty8Twelve

Jessica Hamby in Floral Prints

The dress that Jessica wears in S04E09 & S04E10 is simple, yet so adorable. The floral dress is made with a blue-violet flower print and is lined with heart shaped buttons down the front. This is another custom masterpiece by the wardrobe department so don't expect to find this dress at your local department stores.

Vampire Bait

My favorite outfit, worn by Sookie, would have to be the infamous floral sundress from the episode "Escape from Dragon House". The dress is a custom piece that was designed specifically for the episode.

The beautiful halter dress highlights her innocence as she is surrounded by fangbangers thinking about "Sex Sex Sex".

Shopping with Mom

Picked up a few makeup items, while out shopping with my mom. I usually don't buy drugstore, because it seems like every other lipstick has been tested and sampled by some random consumer.

When I do buy makeup from the drugstore, I always carefully evaluate it to make sure the seal hasn't been tampered with and there are no indentations in the lipstick. The herps is something that I want to refrain from catching, at all costs.

Score! I ended up picking out some clear nail polish, hair product false lashes and some lipsticks.

Buffy Likes Her Camisoles

Cute camisoles are a staple of Buffy's daily wardrobe, especially in the earlier seasons. Just match it with straight leg slacks, chunky heels and an oversized cross necklace and you have a complete ensemble. Season 2 would probably have to be one of my favorites, in terms of Buffy's style.

Ever wonder about the cute leaf print top she wears in the season 2 episode "The Dark Age"? That is by another designer favorite, of the wardrobe department, BCBG Maxazria.

A great deal of Buffy's wardrobe seemed to either be D&G or BCBG Maxazria. And who can blame them? Both are excellent brands and are extremely fashionable.

But let's be honest. Wardrobe stylist Cynthia Bergstrom could have dressed Sarah Michelle Gellar in a trash bag and she'd still look amazing.
